Workshops
The problems impacting our world are increasingly complex, yet we are able to address them through scientific pursuit now more than ever. X-Net will organise and facilitate workshops with a high-impact in the interdisciplinarian scientific community and shape how research is conducted to solve complex problems. The purpose of these events is to focus on a subject area to stimulate collaborative research and new ideas. Topics to address will include tools for promoting effective interdisciplinary collaborations, best practices for leading and sustaining interdisciplinary research and training programs, identifying funding sources and building successful partnerships. Typical workshop numbers will range between 20 and 40 delegates. Four workshops will be delivered as follows:
Preparing the roadmap: prioritising cross-disciplinary training needs with industry
Establishing and improving interdisciplinarian collaborations in Biomedicine
The objectives of this workshop are to: introduce STEM PhDs to important biomedical research questions and datasets, share lessons learnt (pitfalls/ opportunities) from scientists crossing disciplines from opposite directions and learn how to cook up a cross-disciplinary collaboration.
UK roadmap implementation
The purpose of this workshop is to define the deliverables needed at each phase of the implementation project, anticipate limitations and enlist the resources required for success.
