The X-Net Training Network

X-Net is a training network at the interface between computational and mathematical sciences and biomedical research.

X-Net connects cross-disciplinary researchers at different career stages and reveals career opportunities to STEM researchers.

X-Net seeks to address the national demand for quantitative biomedical researchers to drive biomedicine into the big data era.

Our project is designed to span across different research centres in UK and to involve industry and patients and the public.

Outcomes - Overcoming Barriers to Cross-Disciplinary Research

We found different barriers to cross-disciplinary research: cultural, personal, institutional and procedural. Solutions to these barriers were proposed by the workshop participants.

Outcomes - Preparing the roadmap: prioritising cross-disciplinary training needs with industry

In this workshop we recognised some of the barriers to establish industry-academia collaborations and how to promote interdisciplinarity in this context. Industry recruitment and the skills gap were also discussed.
